Movie Theatres of Past and Present

I’m nostalgic to a fault, and Google Maps only feeds it.  Here are some movie theaters that matter to me.  I love their broken seats and the twinkling star ceiling lights and the bulb flicker from their old ass projectors.  The only one not pictured is The Empire Theatre on Block Island.  No Google Street View there.  Good for them.

The Kentucky Theatre.  Lexington, KY.

I knew no one in Kentucky.  I was generally miserable there.  I went here for every midnight Saturday show they had.

The Liberty.  Libertyville, IL.

Annie used to work here when she was in high school.  They still have that loud push-button ticket dispenser that wheels-up a skee-ball ticket.

The 400 Theatre.  (Formerly The Village North) Chicago, IL.

My old roommate and still friend Scotty and I would ride our bikes here and see every single Thursday midnight show during every under-employed summer.  I think we saw every Resident Evil here.

Railroad Square Cinema.  Waterville, ME.

We used to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get to this place because it was the only indie movie close to where I grew up.

Shaker Square Cinemas.  Cleveland, OH.

I spent so much time here while filming on Draft Day.  One of my recent favorites.
